You can share any story you want with your audience by combining videos together. Make your video flow smoothly with the help of video transitions.

Almost all videos and slideshows, from family memories to Instagram ads, are made up of multiple video clips that need to be connected. The right transitions can add wow factor to your video and make it look professionally edited.

Read on to explore how to add transitions to your videos and slideshows in Clipchamp's free online video editor.

How to add transitions to your video

To upload your own media, click on the import media button on the toolbar. You can choose to drag and drop media from your files, upload using our integrations, or use the smartphone QR code.

Clipchamp also offers free and premium stock videos and images you could choose to edit. Just click on the Stock video tab on the left sidebar. Search the video library with a descriptive keyword or select a video from one of our collections. Once you have chosen your video, click the + symbol to add the video to your timeline.

Step 2. Arrange your media and add transitions

Arrange your clips and images by dragging and dropping them on the editing timeline. Next, add a transition to your video, click on Transitions at the left sidebar. We have a big library of free and premium transitions to suit different creative needs. Click and drag a transition toward the plus sign that appears between clips.

Step 3. Adjust length of transitions

Click on the transition icon between your clips in the timeline and a transition icon will appear on the property panel. Here, you can adjust the duration (in seconds) and choose another transition type if you change your mind.

Step 4. Save and share

After completing the editing process, you can proceed to save it by clicking on the Export button. A tab will appear, providing various saving options: 480p, 720p, and 1080p resolution. We highly recommend the 1080p resolution to achieve the best results.

Save video in high quality

Once you choose the resolution, the video will start saving. You can save it to your device or share it on other platforms like Google Drive, YouTube, TikTok, OneDrive, Dropbox, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
